What is Polycystic Kidney Disease (“PKD”)?

PKD is a genetic condition that results in cysts on the kidneys with a 50% chance of being passed on to children. As the cysts grow, normal kidney function is impacted and often results in kidney failure by the time the patient is in their late 40’s or 50’s.”

PKD is the fourth leading cause of Kidney failure in the US, impacting an estimated 600,000 Americans with ~70% of the cases undiagnosed until it is too late.

PKD-Free provides families with a history of PKD with information and resources to end the disease in their families.  We offer programs and information for families explaining how PGT-M and IVF are used to prevent PKD being passed to future generations.  For qualified families that need financial assistance we offer direct grants and we provide access to our IVF and other partners who offer discounts for services.  We are committed to removing financial barriers for families that want to have PKD free children.
